The challenge

Aging infrastructure and exposure to high wind, corrosion, and environmental factors had compromised the stability of the 132kV transmission line. TCN required urgent structural reinforcement to prevent line failures and ensure continuous power delivery to the national grid.

project goals

Electro Domain was contracted by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to carry out the structural fortification of a critical 132kV transmission line segment, aimed at enhancing system reliability and mitigating risks from environmental stressors.

  • Strengthen the structural integrity of the transmission towers and foundations

  • Improve resilience against corrosion, wind, and other environmental stressors

  • Ensure full compliance with Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) standards

  • Minimize risk of power outages and enhance overall grid stability

Project Scope

  • Structural assessment and diagnostics of existing transmission towers

  • Reinforcement of tower foundations and cross-arms

  • Replacement of corroded or damaged components

  • Installation of anti-corrosion protection systems

  • Quality assurance testing and commissioning
  • Full compliance with NERC and industry safety standards

the result

The project was successfully executed with zero safety incidents. The fortification significantly increased the resilience and performance of TCN’s transmission network. It reduced the risk of line failures, improved power delivery continuity, and contributed to the overall stability of the national grid.
